still alive here

But I have been backsliding from slightly crunchy to... chewy? or stale? maybe?

BUT I can tell you that here in the Aos House there has been a whole lotta shaking going on. And some major soul-searching! As a result there are about to be some changes here... Big changes... HUGE changes... as in what-are-we-thinking, sign me up for that brain scan changes.

I would love to tell you all about it but my awesome DH has written a post all about it at his NEW blog... Go have a look!

You would think that...

since I have been off the map for awhile due to a nasty flu bug that I would be in the perfect position to write an amazing and insightful blog post all about natural home remedies or chemical free clean up of a bed full of people who have been vomited on (don't ask... you do NOT want to know)

BUT, I am not quite far enough removed from that particular subject to be ready to visit it, yet.

SO, I have a semi-amazing and uninsightful recipe for you, instead. (sorry, no pictures)

MY MORNING SMOOTHIE:
the juice of four oranges
a frozen banana
4-6 strawberries
2 big fistfuls of fresh spinach
and a scoop of protein powder (I use an organic hemp powder)

Blend and enjoy... and yes, I have this EVERY morning for breakfast. I am  a creature of habit.

Healthy heating step #1 - CHEWING THE FAT

The first major step in our diet overhaul is fats... no more margarine or canola oil allowed! So I went shopping at Amaranth where my *DFSIL works.

*that is: "dear future son in law" but the DEAR part can be switched out at a moment's notice

This is what I bought...

Grapeseed oil for cooking, Extra virgin olive oil for salads, etc., coconut oil for baking...
and whipping cream for this...

whipping in the food processor until it looks like...

...this!

Drain it in a colander lined with a flour sack towel.
Place the colander in a bowl to catch all the whey... great for baking in place of milk.
Squeeze all that whey out and...

TADA... butter!!!
Unsalted, though so if someone knows how much salt to add please let me know...
my husband was not impressed when we spread it on his bagel!

I was rather proud of DD#3 who made it, though...
easy and fun!

and for my next trick...

I will make my six year old daughter clean the toilet... that is what you get in our house if you complain about boredom!

As you can see she is very upset about it... here she attempts to beat me with the toilet brush.
I tell you I get NO RESPECT!

First we sprinkle in some baking soda...

...add some vinegar...

... get a little foaming action going on ...

... stop shirking already and get in there... and don't skip the corners, this time...
Stop whining or it will be your toothbrush next time!

All kidding aside... would you let this little cutie do this with chemical cleaners?
The end result is...

a sparkling clean toilet... and NO CHEMICALS required!

Good job, Punkin... now if you are REALLY REALLY good... mommy will let you clean the OVEN!

introducing...

My latest attempt at blogging!

Here, I will try to document the journey that our homeschooling family takes as we "go crunchy"
